On August 5th of 2023 a Postcrossing meeting was held in Olympia Washington. The event was held at Tumwater Timberland Library with about 30 attendees; starting at 12, anding

Each meetup can look differently; most meetups will have an official meetup card that is usually designed by a local artist or a member of postcrossing. Sometimes there are other activities available. Postcrossing meetups are a great way to meet local community members who enjoy the same hobby of postcrossing.

At this specific meetup 500 official meet up cards were purchased by the attendees, each postcard was signed by everyone at the meet up. Snacks were provided and this event had one individual selling her own postcards. There was also a “blind 10 postcard swap”, a free postcard table, and a “take some, leave some” table. There were so many wonderful new people to meet and talk to!

Becky S was at this Meetup; she is the #1 Postcrossing member in the United States who has sent out 19,134 postcards and received 19,015 postcards through the website since 2009. Funny enough I had sent her a postcard a week prior to this meetup; we spoke for a bit and she mentioned that she keeps every postcard she receives (she even remembered the one I had sent her). She mentioned she has no organization system for them which I found crazy, but completely understood. I mean how can you organize over 19 thousand postcards?

If you’re considering going to a meet up I cannot recommend it enough. Start with one that's closest to you, then maybe one that's a little further out, then maybe even one in another country or try hosting one of your own!
